Delirium is a type of map encounter. Upon approaching a Delirium mirror, the entire zone becomes covered in a grey fog that summons monsters and empowers them. Monsters summoned or empowered by the fog have a chance to drop liquid emotions.
Mechanics
Maps that contain a Delirium encounter will spawn a Delirium Mirror near the starting area of the map. Walking through the mirror will cause the Delirium fog to spread outward in a ring shape. While in the fog, additional Delirium monsters will spawn, and existing Magic and Rare monsters may gain Delirium modifiers. The Delirium fog also adds Fracturing Mirror that shatter and summon a pack of Delirium monsters when approached.
The deeper you go into the fog, the more Delirious the encounter will be, causing more monsters to appear, buffing monsters with more damage and additional Toughness, and improving their item drops.
During a Delirium encounter, a meter will appear indicating progress in the encounter; the main bar indicates how much of the map is covered in the fog, the bottom marker shows how deep you are in the fog, and the top markers show how deep you need to go into the fog to find a special Fracturing Mirror. The rightmost part of the meter indicates where the map boss is.
The Delirium encounter will end if you step out of the fog for more than 5 seconds. Delirium fog is paused temporarily while no players are in the area or while facing certain other encounters or the map boss, indicated by the meter turning black. It is also possible to end the Delirium encounter early by pressing the button on the bottom right. The button will not appear in maps that have a permanent Delirium effect.
The Delirium fog will flow in the direction of the map boss.
Fracturing Mirror Shards
Fracturing Mirror Shards are special types of Mirror Shards that have additional effects. The top part of the meter will show how deep in the fog you need to go to find them, but the type of Mirror Shard that will spawn will be a mystery until it is found.
The effects of the Mirror Shard depend on its color:
- Escalation (Blue?): Add an additional Delirium modifier to a Rare monster.
- Escalation (Teal?): Temporarily pauses the Delirium fog.
- Escalation (Purple): Summons stronger "Pure" variant of Delirium monsters and causes all regular mirror shards to summon Pure delirium monsters.
- Orange (Deceptive): Summons a Delirium boss (Omniphobia, Fear Manifest or Kosis, The Revelation)
- Red (Deceptive): Opens a portal to Loathsome Mire
Capricious Mirror Shards can appear after I see your true nature now! is allocated:
- (Orange) Summon a random map boss
- (?) Spawn a Grand Mirror
Loathsome Mire
Occasionally, a mirror shard will spawn a portal that goes to a side area called Loathsome Mire. Once entered, you will need to find the exit to leave the place. The area is very large and will continuously spawn Delirium monsters to attack the player. A large amount of ground is covered in muck that applies a stacking debuff that deals physical and chaos damage over time while standing on it. The muck will flow in the direction of a large island containing an Unethical Offering interactable, when touched will drop a Distorted AmuletDistorted Amulet<2 random instilled notables>-1 Suffix Modifier allowed or Twisted AmuletTwisted Amulet<2 random instilled notables>-1 Prefix Modifier allowed with two random instilled notables and will stop monsters from spawning and open a portal to the exit.
Delirium scaling
The exact effects and scaling of Deliriousness are currently unknown. However, it appears to grant a scaling amount of increased damage, less damage taken (Toughness), and extra item rarity to monsters.
Deliriousness scales up as you move further out from where the mirror was, capping out at 100%. Map bosses will always be 100% Delirious, regardless of distance. Fog covered maps can have up to 200% Deliriousness.
Maps covered in Delirium fog have a baseline Deliriousness, as displayed on the map.
Grand Mirror
When defeating a map boss in a Delirium encounter, there is a chance it will add a Grand Mirror to a nearby map. A map containing a Grand Mirror will duplicate the map's boss.
Once the map bosses are defeated, by interacting with the Grand Mirror, you can choose a map to cover that map and several connected maps in Delirium fog, which causes those map to contain a permanent Delirium encounter. They have a baseline Deliriousness starting at 10%, and killing Rare and Unique monsters in fog covered maps will increase Deliriousness for all fog covered maps. Delirious percentage caps out at 200%.
For the first quest Grand Mirror, you will only be able to target the nearby mountain map to add the fog to. All other Grand Mirrors will allow you to add the fog to any uncompleted map on the Atlas.
Delirium fog cannot spread to maps that grant Atlas passive points (for the main or side trees).
Simulacrum

Version history
Prior to version 0.4.0, it was possible to instill waystones with up to 3 Liquid Emotions, adding an enchantment to a waystone. Maps enchanted this way have a permanent Delirium fog that persist throughout the entire map at a static Deliriousness percentage determined by the combination of Liquid Emotions. When Delirium is added this way, it is not possible to end the Delirium fog. Liquid Emotions cannot be obtained in these kinds of maps. However, Delirium monsters can still be encountered and will drop Simulacrum Splinters.
